Anyone else got this email message to their private email account? (dot mac in my case)

I also got it as a PM in my AppleNova Private Message inbox.

As far as I am aware I do not make my email address public.

Lucky Guess? Did I do something to display my email address in a post? Admins?
I don't think I did..

EDIT - By the way 'princessfattu' is a new user on AppleNova. Can we ban them permanently, please. Thanks.

I got the same PM. All I got in my private email account was the AN notification that I had received a PM.

That's the strange thing. This came as a direct email to me as well. Normally an email routed through AN comes describing itself as such.. Unles Brad et al have changed the way that works it seems that she must have got my email address here somehow, which seems strange. I really don't think I have made that one public. And if I have I would like to know where...

It's worrying that so many people have got it. Normally people running these scams use lists of data. They don't just type names in from an on screen list. It's simply not worht the effort...
I may well be wrong but this smacks of some kind of harvesting of a database, or section of the web site....

Hmm, we're looking into it. In the mean time princess has been uber banned, IP banned, and pooped on.

The account can no longer send or receive PM's, can't see the boards, or pretty much anything else for that matter.

With a regular banning, you're still allowed PM functionality in order to PM the mods/admins or other users, you're just not allowed to post on the boards. You can also see all the threads, user profiles and the like. Uber banning removes your access to view any funtion of the boards, in any way, shape or form. It also denies any PM attempts. I created it a while back for spammers in particular.

As for the spam, from what I could see the spammer was clicking on user profiles one at a time and sending spam individually to everyone they could.

It was not an email which had been forwarded by the AN "email a user" option, unless you have changed how they look now....
