I hate when I connect my iphone to my computer and iphoto opens. I've searched.....and can't find how to disable that function. Please someone tell me before I loose my mind. Thanks in advance

This applies to almost all cameras, but not necessarily to the iPhone:
Launch Image Capture from /Applications. From the Image Capture menu, choose Preferences…, then the General tab. In "When a camera is connect, open:", iPhoto should be selected. You can change this to No application, or a different one. |

And yes, it's stupid that this selection is buried here... an annoyance when ANY application's behavior is controlled from elsewhere for no explicable reason.

FYI, I've noticed that after the latest iPhone update (1.02) and iPhoto '08 this seems to be corrected so long as the iPhone doesn't have pictures that have yet to be imported. They've also added (unless I never noticed it before) a "hide already imported images" option when iPhoto auto launches which will prevent it from doing so again if you store images in the camera roll -- provided of course you don't take more.
