I have a PowerBook G4 15" / 1.67 GHz / 2 GB OWC RAM / 100 GB HD circa July 2005. On Monday I received and installed two new 1 GB sticks of RAM I got from OWC. I made sure they "registered" in the "About This Mac" screen before I screwed the back panel back on.
Anyway, ever since then it's been running SO FREAKING SLOWLY. It's almost as if I went down to less RAM. It was most painful just a few moments ago when I tried to watch a streamed lecture. It was skipping so much I had to just shut it off. I'm so frustrated. Does anyone have a suggestion for me? I was about to Archive and Install, but mid-semester I don't have time to be reinstalling software, etc. Thank you for your help! |

How much free space is on your hard disk?
I'm not sure how OS X calculates swap requirements, but theoretically there could be some correlation. Theoretically. Like REALLY theoretically. real hackers don't use sigs |

There used to be almost no free space, but I recently moved almost 30 GB of movies to my 500 GB Time Capsule. There's about 23 GB free. Is your advice to do an archive and install? Thanks again! |

The memory is still showing up as installed?
Did you somehow tell your computer to run spotlight on your TimeMachine directory that you just copied 30GB of data to? That would explain it. If you from Activity Monitor, what does it show your computer is doing? Google is your frenemy. Caveat Emptor - Latin for tough titty I tend to interpret things in the way that's most hilarious to me |
