Why Apple didn't use DDR2-800 in the newer 800MHz FBS Core2Duo Macs?

Can I put DDR2-800 in it myself?

While their FSB has been increased from 667 to 800 MHz, the maximum RAM speed allowed has not, contrary to rumors. Only DDR2-533/PC2-4200 and DDR2-667/PC2-5300 are supported.

Was it the chipset in the logicboard that doesn't support DDR2-800? Or the Core2Duo itself?
