For general use I think I'd prefer grass. Black wallpapers wig my eyes out after a while. Too contrasty with everything else. Also, you forgot the boot... I mean beer option.

The grass one is too much "Vista" style.

I love the default wallpaper on Tiger. It's clean, simple, make it easy to read the typo and it's distinctive... I mean you can recognize it everywhere. It's not like thoses two wallpaper who are pretty generic.

What I wanted to say is: I think we'll get a feeling of "always in Time Machine". The effect won't be the same if you're always in space.

Personally I have my own wallpaper I use on all my Macs, and also on my iPhone. I port it from screen resolution to screen resolution by re-rendering it as I upgrade.

I can't stand busy desktops. The background should be akin to wallpaper that you could have in your living room, as long as you are not a Laura Ashley fan that is.

If I had to choose between the two in this poll it would be the grass one.

I generally don't care about wallpapers, since I only see a few pixels of it in normal use. They're about as important to me as screensavers, and I don't get the amount of time people spend on selecting The Right One of either.

Having said that, a black background is generally a bad idea. The eyes need something to rest on, and black means that there is nothing, you're looking into a void. Which is why all operating systems after MS DOS have been using colors for their backgrounds that are not pure black, and often with some kind of texture (which reinforces the idea that you're looking at a surface). So I consider the space-themed wallpapers a bad choice, and would suggest the grass one, if you have to pick between the two. Or just set your background to a nice solid color and be done with it.

Im all for the grass wallpaper... If I cant choose moof girl anyways. Really dislike the space-one... Reminds me of my years as a teenager. I dont hope Apple is starting to go down that road with its standard wallpapers. But hey... its easy to set your own :P

Neither Leopard wallpaper really fits my tastes for wallpaper, but the grass one is a nice photo in its own right. The space one is ugly period.
