Wondering if there are any Audi enthusiasts or owners lurking in here. I used to have a 1999.5 Audi A4 2.8 which while it wasn't a lemon, it wasn't the most reliable either. Control arms, electrical glitches, creaks, and weak breaks to name a few. On reflection, it was pretty much a luxurious Jetta.

But that was like 7 years ago and two model changes have occured since. I know the 2002 models were a great improvement, but
I'm wondering how this latest A4 or A3 platform performs and it's reliability record.

my sister picked up her brand new 2006 2.0L fully loaded Audi A4 on Saturday. She is taking it back in this Saturday because there is a weird sound coming out of the right front tire whenevre she runs over a pothole or speed bump.

I've seen mixed results from Audi. It seems that some models are plauged with problems, and other models will be fine. So the 1.8's might have lots of trouble, while the 2.8's work just peachy.

Best bet would be to check a site like Edmunds.com and read though the vehicle reviews. It usually gives you an idea of the most common problems.

I'd personally buy a Saab. Random, I know, but I love them.

I love Audi. The interiors are so clean and well-thought out. My step-uncle has an A6, and it rocks. But he hasn't had it long enough to give me much of a picture on its reliability, and I must confess, I have never owned one.

But yeah, I second alc's suggestion. Individual accounts can give you a skewed picture of the car - best to check something like Edmunds.

Happy car shopping

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

Acura. If you're looking for sporty, go with the TSX, if you're looking for a mix of luxury and speed, the TL, if you're looking for pure luxury, go with the RL.

Don't settle on an Audi before you look at an Acura. I looked long and hard at the Audi line before I bought my TSX, but I'm so glad I went with the Acura. You can't beat the value and the reliability is beyond top notch.
