Whitehouse.gov has just been updated.
There is a section of Whitehouse.gov called The Briefing Room where all of the Presidents proclamations, executive orders, and appointments will be listed. The briefing room also contains a blog and a weekly video address. There are also six RSS feeds: (feed links) - Agenda Articles - Press Office - Office and Management and Budget - Blog Feed - Photo Feed - Video Feed Whitehouse.gov validates as Transition XHTML 1.0. The CSS does not validate - but that's just because they're using Mozilla-only properties I like where this is going But it's too bad they're using IIS That's not the change we need! [UPDATE] The slideshow on the homepage uses JQuery, not Flash. Bonus points! Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end. I'm not much of a downloader, myself, but even I can appreciate the humor here:

I'm actually loving the new internet friendly version of The President. scratt linked to a Twitter feed from TheWhiteHouse that is expected to be used also. So I've added it to my list of people I'm following. I've also added the Blog RSS feed too. Not sure about the others offered, maybe later.

While I agree that the page is a lot nicer, I'm not sure whats so 2.0 about it.
Also, Why the hate on flash? Surely anyone who has used a professional product like Adobe Flex/flash thinks its much nicer than battling with browser compatibility and poor documentation from JQuery or Dojo, etc. On a side note, I have heard that some of the senate sites use ColdFusion, Microsoft SQL and Apache. Seems like an odd combination to me. ...and calling/e-mailing/texting ex-girlfriends on the off-chance they'll invite you over for some "old time's sake" no-strings couch gymnastics... |
