It also means that all of us have ancestors of every color and creed. Every Palestinian suicide bomber has Jews in his past. Every Sunni Muslim in Iraq is descended from at least one Shiite. And every Klansman's family has African roots.
An interesting thought for this holiday period....

CNet has a similar article (not that I've read Wired's link you gave but I did look through the one on CNet).

I know this has come up in the past too. In fact I think it was about 10 years ago or so they figured out our DNA came from what lines up with Adam and Eve. I never studied it so I don't know the details, but at least we can use this type of info when people chose to be racist, brother.

Erm, was that news?

Seriously, it has been already known that based on mitochrina (this word is badly mangled due to my excellent speeling. Biological majors, feel free to mock me for my ignorance and stupdity) you can determine who is who in any given family tree.

But what I liked the most was that bit saying that there is no biological distinction between races; meaning that it is impossible to determine whether a given individual is native to a land without seeing that individual face to face. Should shut up the racists.

Actually, mitochondria can only be used to follow a person's female ancestors since they're transmitted in the egg, not the sperm. If you want to trace male ancestors, you can take a look at Y chromosomes.

And now that you've admitted that you realise you've been skimping all these years, you know we're all gonna be expecting one this Christmas, all 6.5 Billion of us.... and I'll be the first to start screaming for all to hear if I don't get one!

Cat's out of the bag, suckers.

I am not related to any of you goons.

My family stands alone on this planet; so we're a little inbred, that's never stopped my uncle, who is my grandfather, from having sex with my sister, who is my mother.

Gee whiz, scratt. It's so nice having you for a brother.

(Does our close familial relationship mean I can get a kick-ass discount on skydiving lessons? )

Of course... What saddens me is I think this means that my public spanking on a beach is not really kosher anymore!

Oops! Oh yeah, I'd forgotten all about that.

Hmm... let's see...

Okay, I know! Instead of my brother, you could be my second cousin.

Would that work?
