So it came out today, and I'm listening to it. Not quite sure what to think of it. First time in a while I didn't take a liking to a major NIN album off the bat.
Your thoughts? I will say it was flying out of the door when I went in over lunch to pick one up. Had to have seen at least two dozen people walk out with them between my walking in the door and walking out. Google is your frenemy. No way. He probably borrowed it from a coworker. He had to.

I listened to it on NIN's web site last week. Mer. Not as good as the Fragile, but better than Pretty Hate Machine. I'll probably get it today from iTMS (I don't bother with CDs any more unless they are not available on iTMS).

No, NIN is one of my two exception bands. I'll buy their CD's. He only releases one once every 5 years, I figure I can live with that.

Love it, but took a couple of spins to get used to. Is somewhere up there with Downward Spiral and The Fragile. Can't say if better or worse - only time will tell...

I give With Teeth a thumbs up... a little "alternative-rock" oriented but still decent. I still think my favorite release is the Still EP however. It's a bunch of remixed and unreleased stuff just after the Fragile era. Reznor is at his best when he's sullen and depressed.

Part of the significance of an official "Halo" release is the remixes that follow. As for the album, I like it. I bought from iTMS the morning it was available and listened to it straight through during work (take that Protestant Work Ethic!). I need to listen again a few times to know where to rank it among the others.
And for the record: NIN, Tool, Garbage, U2, Bjork and Radiohead are my automatic buys. Screed With Teeth |

Yeah, I really like it too.
Gave it one listen straight through on my mix stage at work this morning - really loud! I really love "Every Day Is The Same" and "Only". Several other really good cuts (I'm sure it'll grow on my over time). Overall, the production is pristine - NIN style with lots of little interesting sounds mixed in and moving around. Highly recommended. |

Shit - a thread with a LoCash post. Too weird. I didn't even know you and I miss you. RIP Jack. Guess you're having one big laugh at us.
Edit: thanks Tron. And welcome to Applenova. Last edited by Franz Josef : 2005-07-22 at 16:02. |

Hmm.
God knows I'm a big NIN fan (by the way — the Fragile better than Pretty Hate Machine? WTF?) What I've heard of the latest album (not the whole thing) sounds tired and jaded. I may go out to buy it, but I'm not going to go out of my way to do it. |
