Hi
im having some problems with azureus loading up.

I have tried many versions and with similar results
the frog appears in the dock and then fails to load and disappears. I do not get a program window, nor does it open in the task bar at the top.

This is also the same when i try to open a torrent, with 'open with' azureus.

I have gone to azureus because the bittorrent client for 0sx 10.2.8 no longer seems to work and i cannot upgrade the osx

I have also tried tomato but the torrents fail to 'open' when dragging it where it instructs!

Any advice would be much appreciated

Mike

BitRocket FTW.

Performance is miles better than Azureus.

thank you spikeh
i have downloaded the bit rocket program and mounted it.
I then tried to open the torrent and the program as per my previous post
and the same happens as with azureus, it just bounces then disappears

any ideas!

In the preferences set the log level to debug and see what it says. It sounds like a problem with the torrent you have downloaded, though - perhaps it is incomplete or corrupt? I usually go through www.scrapetorrent.com for my torrents.

by preferences do you mean as in when the program loads up, or osx preferences, because the program doesnt appear on the top task bar.

I tried your website for torrents and is exactly the same.

I really dont know what im doing wrong!

If you go into BitRocket, press , (Apple + Comma) and click Advanced. The option should be on there.

I literally just open the BitRocket window (so that I can see where the torrents should go) and drag a .torrent file onto it, works fine - same for Azureus. Let's see what the log says.

Unfortunately (apple + comma) doesnt do anything,

do you mean when the program is running?
I do not get a window or even the icon to stay in the doc, i have tried re-downloading, restarting

Any more ideas??

Thank you

Ah, that means that the app isn't compatible with 10.2.8 - do you get the same with Azureus, or does that actually open?

no azureus does exactly the same thing, i think i read that bit rocket is based in part on azureus?

I have a range of versions of azureus that all do the same thing,

Im going to try updating the java on my mac to see if that makes any difference, if not then or just update to panther/tiger(if the later works on my spec)

thanks again

This is a common problem when apps won't run on 10.2.8. I hear Tomato Torrent will work on it: http://sarwat.net/bittorrent/

yeh i have tried tomato, both versions and they do not work either,
if you drag and drop like it suggests, it says that the torrent didnt understand the 'open' command

If you 'open with' it says it is getting torrent information, with a progress clock, but there is no progress

I have the same problem. once upon a time I installed Azureus and worked fine, then I updated and got a weird mistake, I uninstalled hoping that getting a fresh copy would take care of the problem and it didn't.
Have been using tomato torrent but it sometimes drops to zero.

Ummmm... Guys? His problem lies right in this thread title. He's running 10.2.8! All of these applications are UNIVERSAL BINARIES. These don't run on anything less than 10.3.9. He has to find a way to strip them of their intel code. I believe there are some applications out there which will do this for you.
