iTunes -- switching from Shopping Cart to 1-click?

I currently have a shopping cart in iTunes with about 75 songs in it. Unfortunately, I've also been plagued by a persistent (error 502) problem that does not allow me to actually *SEE* the contents of my cart (see "iTunes Music Store (error 502)?" thread in Genius Bar).

If I switch from shopping cart to 1-click purchasing, will that automatically purge the contents of my cart, or will the contents remain? I don't want to risk losing the cart's contents while trying to solve the (error 502) issue, but I also hate to not be able to buy anything in the meantime. Thanks for all feedback.

I really think this highlights the need for a 'wishlist' feature in iTunes.

The shopping cart seems to be working for me.

No, I'm not saying the shopping cart is down across the board. Just for me, personally, I have not been able to view the contents of my cart since around the time the Billion Song promo started.

Create a playlist called, "Wishlist" (or anything, really) and drag items into it from the store. You can buy directly from the list.

rasmits -- I tried your idea but instead of letting me buy the song, it had the "Add Song" button for adding the song to my shopping cart.

That was more of a response to neiltc13 about the need for a wishlist feature.

As for your problem, try calling Apple. They might be able to see your shopping cart and tell you over the phone. Or try from another computer.

Since when does Apple have phone support for iTunes Music Store?

I'm pretty sure they've always had an iPod/iTunes support line...

I'm only trying to help. Obviously no one here has had any solution for the problem, so maybe going to the source would be a little more helpful. If you're having a reoccurring error in the iTunes Music Store, you should tell them about it.

I know what you're saying but, frankly, people here are often better informed than Apple Support, and I've never heard of Apple offering phone support for the iTunes Music Store.

Bumping this back up. Someone must know the answer to my original question above. Thanks ...

I tried adding something to the cart, then disabling the cart (switching to 1-click) and turning it back on. The item was still in the cart.

I've not used 1-click since I accidentally purchased a Rod Stewart song while getting the hang of my PowerBook's trackpad. You can still use 1-click to buy things though, can't you? It's just the cart that's broken? Smells like the cache needs a wipe, but which cache I wouldn't know. I imagine a maintenence program (search for a link, I don't remember the names!) should lick whatever cache iTunes uses for the store.

I doubt it shares the cache with WebKit (and so Safari), but I could be absurdly wrong. Could always try cleaning the cache in Safari and seeing what happens.

...and all the wolves were found upside-down in a box!

I actually deleted every cache in my Library, plus all cookies, but still no luck with the cart. I can still add songs to the cart -- and if I try to add a duplicate, a warning pops up -- but I can't actually *SEE* the cart's contents.

I have no idea if I'll ever be able to see my cart's contents again, but in the meantime, I've been afraid to switch to 1-click because I don't want to risk the cart being emptied.

Any other ideas/feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks.
