Do I remember correctly that once you reach a thousand posts you could change your subtitle on your own? I did go back and search for it and found a thread where it was talked about and I don't seem to see that setting in my preferences.

Although IIRC it's not immediate. database has to update itself first.

Did I do something wrong that I can't change my sub-title any more? I don't like "Registered User".

No, from what I can tell, you are a member of the 'Custom Title' group.

Do you not see a "Custom User Title" box on this page?

I see it, but it isn't working...

I was able to change it once and then POOF! I was a registered user. I have tried six or so times, and again just now and I click the box to reset and type a new subtitle, then I save changes and nothing.

I really did just think someone was messing with me.

Umm... you only check the box labeled "Reset" if you want to *snicker* reset it to the default value (Registered User).

Just enter a name in the field and scroll down to click Save Changes.

Seriously, I don't see how it could be more obvious:

"Check the 'Reset' box if you wish to use the default title for your usergroup and post count."

I would have had to have read all that.

All I saw was present name / reset box / custom user title box.

The other words were just up there and it doesn't surprise me that I missed it. I have 20/20 vision, but sometimes the things right in front of me are just not there. I live and I learn from my handicap on a daily basis. At my age I just laugh a lot in a case like this.

Actually someone was changing it so that he couldn't have a custom title. I went back in and changed it back so that he could just a before you all started posting about it.

so yeah, both of you are right, you were just looking at his userfields at different times.
