My wife has an ipod shuffle and a AI G4 867mhz powerbook. She only has USB1 ports and its ultra slow copying songs onto her shuffle. Is there an adapter that would allow her to plug in the shuffle to a firewire port?

Firewire and USB are two very different protocols. I have never seen or heard of the device you are looking for.

Yeah, I've never heard of one either. I'd suggest getting a USB2.0 PC Card instead.
Like this one. Not too bad at 40 bucks. Last edited by 709 : 2005-02-18 at 16:51. Reason: added link |

If it's an 867 MHz aluminum, then it must be a 12", and the 12" PowerBook doesn't have a PC card slot. The slowest 15" aluminum PowerBook was 1 GHz.

This could end up kicking Apple in the butt... A lot of Macs don't have USB 2.0
I know I'm not getting an iPod Shuffle because of my G3 iBook. I like Bawls and Rocket Fuel! (See http://www.xoxide.com/) D00D, like 1337 totally man, have you seen Anchorman??? |

PCs have had it for like three or four years now (don't remember exactly). Apple only started adding USB 2.0 to all their systems maybe a year and a half ago. Maybe it was stubbornness from not wanting to promote a competitor to Firewire, but now we see that Firewire and USB 2.0 occupy totally different markets. Apple really should have gone with USB 2.0 earlier.
