Forget it. I shop locally. I go to Tom Nook's Cranny for all my shopping needs. I just hand him a big bag of Bells and he gives me all the wallpaper or tree saplings I could want. I even sell him my fossils, but don't tell the neighbors - I'm supposed to be donating them to Blathers at the Museum.

awesome nerdy points for anyone who gets this

Close enough. Animal Crossing (aka Animal Forest e+) for the Gamecube. But they're very similar.

Speaking of which, check out their clever logo!

Not only does it resemble a smiling face, but the arrow points from "a" to "z," implying that they have everything!

I'd actually never noticed that... I guess I really tune out advertising gimmicks.

I guess as a graphic design nerd I always notice stuff like that (though to me it looks more like it's pointing to the "o"...). Like, have you seen the hidden arrow in the FedEx logo? It's pretty famous among design nerds.

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

It's pretty obvious. But if one didn't notice that the Amazon smile was an arrow...

I think there was an MLIA about it a ways back, and all the commenters were like "OMG I see it now!" So...

Actually, other way around: I didn't think of the arrow as a smile. I also didn't notice the "a" to "z" thing.

I've never really looked at the FedEx logo much, because we don't really use them up here (at least I don't).

Edit: Cool, I just noticed the arrow in the FedEx logo! It's actually pretty clever!

I noticed the Amazon "smile" a couple of years ago. Of course, by that time I had already given them several thousand of my hard earned dollars.

Nothing counts towards AN's affiliate account until items ship. Up to $22 though on 10 items shipped.

ATTENTION ALCIMEDES AND POSSIBLY OTHER KNOWLEDGEABLE PARTIES.

Is there any point in me waiting for a UK AN affiliate before I pre-order Snow Leopard?

I would so go ahead and order if you're in the UK, I don't plan on doing a store there until I know what it would mean tax wise.

I googled "What would it mean tax wise?" and here are your answers:

"Residence tax is a joke! I had to pay $4000 a year in the last town I lived in, but because at the time I didn't pay health insurance (since at the time I thought I would be leaving soon) I could do absolutely nothing that the tax supposedly paid for (local community centres that offered 'free' health checks, etc). Sure, they collected my garbage and recycling, but that's all. They also built a dozen useless community centres in the town and said we have to pay for their upkeep."

and

"I enquired last year with a guy in South Dublin who was reputed to be the LPG guru in Ireland, and I had a conversation with a very disgruntled and disilliusioned man who advised me against the conversion (despite it being his dying business!!!). As far as he was concerned the government had ignored it so the public were not availing of it and the stations were no longer selling it, and so on and so forth."

I've shipped, so there's a couple more pennies. Hopefully.

This is working up to be a nice, little, successful program.

cool

i can't tell if it works on my purchases...it doesn't give me any data...but i will keep using the link

spent 100 the other day, ordering a rain barrel for 200 today...

i buy too much stuff at amazon...sigh...

might be updating my stereo soon...that will be way too much money spent at amazon...but i am not sure yet...have spent lots of money this year with daughters wedding, new house and other daughter paying out of state tuition and her moving to a bigger apartment and needing more furniture and such...

but heck money isn't for saving, it is for spending...

alc, you should've seen a dollar or so come from me this week, too.

g, yeah, there's no indication that it works from the customer's perspective. I guess you just have to remember to load up our referral URL right before ordering and "trust" that it works...

That rain barrel counted towards AN to the tune of $13. Nicely done.

That's 15 days of hosting.

I just ordered a PS3 Remote and a book through the link.

I've already bookmarked it, so any Amazon shopping will be done through it.

Is there any way to know how much AN has gotten just from the Snow Leopard orders? I'm curious about that figure.
