How many hours will the new 12" PowerBook's battery last when playing a DVD, and how long will the 15" PowerBook's battery when doing the same thing?

The 12" PB will last about 3 hours, with the screen brightness turned down. Not sure about the 15". That should be enough to get you through most movies, hopefully.

Also, if I recall correctly, you'll get MUCH better battery life if you copy the DVD to your hard drive while you're plugged in. Spinning the DVD sucks a lot more juice than accessing the hard drive.

Agreed. Much more energy efficient to rip to harddrive and play than direct from DVD (slow to rip though).
