Hi all,
If and when I finally get this new pb, I'm wondering what the best Wi-Fi seeker is... some little thing you can pull out of your pocket to see if your powerbook will get a signal (I don't want to have to open the pb to check).
Any suggestions?

I've used both MacStumbler and iStumbler. I prefer MacStumbler.

I've heard others praise MacStumbler, but I'm looking for something small, that won't require me to take my powerbook out of my carrying case, open it, and launch a program.
Smith Micro makes a little thing the size of a keychain called Wi-Fi Seeker; you take it out of your pocket, press a button, and if there's a wireless access point within 300 feet, the Seeker will supposedly find it.

Anyone tried this, or something like it? (I have no particular allegiance to Smith Micro)

You could look for Warchalk marks on the sidewalk...

Canary Wireless Digital Hotspotter - HS10 is the one I want.

Check it out and others at Handtops.com WiFi Seeker, Finder, Detector roundup.

Cool site... informative review.
I also noticed the Buffalo 802.11g USB Key. Wondered how long those would take.
